With locations in Shekou and Coco Park, McCawley’s boasts one of the most authentic pub environments in the city. The menu is widely varied: burgers, gourmet pizza, pasta and steaks abound, but McCawley’s comes into its own with its traditional pub-grub. Sunday Carvery Roasts, Bangers and Mash, Irish Stew, Shepherd’s Pie and the signature Guinness Steak and Ale Pie – 95 RMB – are all to die for.
The drinks also are top-rate. Kronenbourg, Guinness and Kilkenny are on tap and McCawley’s stocks an enviable selection of imported spirits. Happy hour is from 3 to 8 p.m. daily, with Carlsberg pints for 20 RMB, and there are rotating food deals each weekday. McCawley’s also regularly offers international sports on large-screen TVs and excellent live music from 10 p.m., Wednesday to Saturday.
