Nanshan’s V-Bar simultaneously offers a wild, dance-‘til-you-drop club scene and one of the most relaxing lounge areas around.

Set in the Crowne Plaza Hotel, V-Bar’s upscale interior has a clean, modern look with an unobstructed dance floor surrounding its large, circular bar. The stage hosts a diverse, seven-piece band — one of the most impressive house bands in the city — that brings in energetic crowds with performances from about 10 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. nightly, excluding Sundays. Band members’ diverse homelands include the U.S., Trinidad and Tobago, South Africa and New Zealand. They play a variety of jazz, blues and hip-hop, but specialize in dance to keep the crowds excited.
V-Bar’s drink selection includes 50RMB beers such as Corona and Guinness, and a 5-liter mini keg of the German Paulaner Hefe Weissbier for 480RMB. The bar attracts a professional, hard-working, stress-relieving crowd, likely including many of the entrepreneurial types who are driving Shenzhen’s recent Forbes magazine ranking as one of the most innovative cities in the world.

Outside of the bar, a colorfully lit, spacious, crescent-shaped poolside patio is where V really shows its charm. Far enough removed from the music, the seating area is more than comfortable and ideal for a relaxing conversation at candlelit tables or cozy couch-and-pillow areas.
